Sewing 102 - The Linen Boxy Top

If you're a beginning sewer, you're not going to believe how easy it is to make this top that is perfect for every occasion.  Pair it with jeans for a day out with friends.  Or, dress it with a circle skirt to go to dinner. To make that boxy top...the one that you can wear again, all spring, summer and fall long, is much more simple than you think.

Here is is, crafty folks: finally, the top that you can pattern yourself (from a shirt that you own for sizing), or use the traceable patterns we'll have on hand.  Tweak a little here, adn a little there to change its final look if you please.  Either way, believe me it's easy.  It's that type of top.

In this 2.5-hour workshop, you'll learn how to:

• pattern a shirt from an existing top or t-shirt that you already own for neckline and armholes (and love for its fit).  
• Learn how to use bias tape to finish your armholes and neckline
• Create absolute fabulousness that will be so easy you'll immediately want to go do it again.  

MANDATORY PRE-REQUISITE TO ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP:  This is not a fundamentals workshop, and how to navigate the machine will NOT be taught during this time.  To join us for this workshop, you must have taken our Intro to the Sewing Machine workshop, or have knowledge on how to properly thread a general sewing machine AND spool a bobbin.  Experience sewing apparel is a plus, but not required.  

NO NEED TO BRING YOUR MACHINE!  In all bee creative workshops, you'll use our Brother sewing machines to complete your wares.

WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS: 

• HOW MUCH FABRIC? 1 - 1.5 yards of fabric.  Always okay to bring more in the event of errors. WHILE THIS IS CALLED THE LINEN BOXY TOP, YOU MAY BRING ALONG ANY BROADCLOTH OR COTTON FABRIC YOU'D LIKE.  EXPERIENCED SEWER? FEEL FREE TO BRING A COTTON OR LINEN BLEND.  THIS IS NOT A WORKSHOP FOR KNITS.  
• WHERE TO PURCHASE? Remember, because this is a beginner's workshop, we recommend that you purchase a less expensive fabric to learn on, and use your knowledge on your more expensive fabrics later on. FINE FABRICS has a wide variety of linen, linen-look and broadcloth fabrics for $6-$9 per yard, so we recommend giving them a visit if you do not have fabric on hand). 
• Make sure your fabric is NOT stretchy or silky for this course. 

All other supplies will be provided in the cost of the workshop.
