Jewelry 101 :: Statement Necklaces

Ever wanted to learn the A-B-C's of jewelry-making, but don't quite know where to start?  

In this class, you will learn stringing and finishing techniques used by professional jewelry makers to ensure high-quality, and most importantly, long-lasting beaded designs.  You will learn and use both traditional and alternative materials common in jewelry-making, and will begin to grow your encyclopedic knowledge of jewelry language and terminology. 

What makes this class different?
Unlike other beginner jewelry classes, in this class you get to make the jewelry you want.  Be prepared at the top of class to select from a wide variety of popular African Glass Trade Beads, gemstones, findings and more to create a bold single-strand necklace of your dreams!  We'll also learn new techniques on working with large-hole beads that will allow you to make these necklaces like you've been doing it forever.  

JEWELRY MAKING IS TINY WORK!  BE SURE TO BRING YOUR READERS OR MAGNIFIERS IF NEEDED!  Jewelry making is only enjoyable if you're able to do it efficiently, and having magnifiers or reading glasses may help with this task if you use them day-to-day. 

By the end of the class, you'll have plenty of practice, and a lovely handmade necklace (and accompanying bracelet, if time) to wear home.

For the course, we will provide all tools and supplies.  If you have special beads you'd like to use, be sure to bring them with you for your creation. 

Each class is a 2 - 2.5 hour session
