Sanyu Funky Handmade Necklace with Chunky Beads and Ankara Fabric (Large Beads in Red, Green or Orange)

These unusual and gorgeous necklaces are made of tightly rolled magazine paper that have been varnished for durability and then connected into a necklace with African Kitenge/Ankara fabric. We named them Sanyu which means happy in Luganda. These are happy necklaces, reflecting a very creative and fun design.

The paper beads are colorful and bold and enhanced with the fabric used to tie the beads together. Please note that the colors of the fabric strands can vary quite a bit, depending on how the strips were cut. These have no clasp as you will tie the necklace by its fabric strands. These make for a casual, chic, bohemian necklace but also give you flexibility by being able to alter (at least a little bit) the length of the necklace by choosing how you tie it in the back.
The lenght of the entire strand is about 36 inches (14 inches with beads). For most, tying a double knot leaves a length of the necklace about 10-11 inches (but that will vary based on how you tie them).
Select red, green or orange.
No two necklaces are exactly the same as the colors reflected in the fabric depends on how it was cut. These African fabrics are bold and gorgeous with vibrant colors.

These creative necklaces are made by Grace and her team who live in the slums of Kampala, Uganda.
