A woman's bag is her home.  It's the place where we lug our computers, makeup, work files, and everything else we never thought we'd carry around. If you're going to lug so much around, you might as well do it with style.  We're going to show you how.

We consider this workshop to be an intro into sewing on leather.  By utilizing a realistic looking vegan leather, you'll experience what it is like to pattern and sew a heavy-weighted, non-cotton based material on your machine, the proper sewing foot and attachments to use (teflon, y'all!), and how to create your own straps that will last the test of time.  Because we are working with a leather substitute, as is the case with most leather bags, these beautiful totes will not have a lining and will allow the beauty of the material to shine through.   

As with most bag making, having the fundamental knowledge of how to structure a bag gives you freedom to express your own creativity with that pattern, making new and different designs along the way. By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with one finished (and completely lovely) large vegan leather tote.  

While simple sewing knowledge is needed in this class, both beginners and advanced sewers are welcome.  Patterns and step-by-step guides will be on-hand, and your instructor will be there to walk you through individual steps if you need advanced guidance.  

WHAT TO BRING TO THE WORKSHOP:

Interfacing, fusing, and all supplies will be provided. 

MANDATORY PRE-REQUISITE:  
To join us for this workshop, you must have taken our Intro to the Sewing Machine workshop, or have knowledge on how to properly thread a machine AND spool a bobbin on your own.  Experience sewing accessories is a plus, but is not required.  

NO NEED TO BRING YOUR MACHINE! In all bee creative workshops, you'll use our Brother sewing machines to complete your wares (we love our Brother RLS590 and XL2600i machines.... Great starter machines for all).

IMPORTANT NOTE:BECAUSE NO FUNDAMENTAL SEWING WILL BE TAUGHT IN THIS COURSE, WE WILL EXCUSE ANY STUDENTS WHO DO NOT KNOW HOW TO NAVIGATE AN ENTRY-LEVEL MACHINE DURING THE WORKSHOP.  THESE STUDENTS WILL BE INVITED TO RETURN FOR A FUTURE WORKSHOP DATE ONCE THEY ARE ABLE TO RE-THREAD A MACHINE AND SPOOL A BOBBIN ON THEIR OWN.  TO ENSURE THE QUALITY AND ENJOYMENT OF THE WORKSHOP FOR ALL, WE WILL ADHERE TO THIS RULE WITH NO EXCEPTIONS.
