If you're a beginning sewer, you're not going to believe how easy it is to make a dress. To make that dress... the one that you can wear again, all spring, summer and fall long. Well, this is it, crafty folks... This is the dress that you can pattern yourself (from a shirt that you own) and modify ever so slightly to change its final look. It's that dress.
In this 2.5 hour workshop, you'll learn how to pattern a dress from a tank top or t-shirt that you already own (and love for its fit). We'll pattern the dress to your liking: If you want a maxi dress, that can be done. Knee-length? No problem. Mini? You got it. The longer you want it, the more fabric you need to be sure to bring.
MANDATORY PRE-REQUISITE TO ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP: To join us for this workshop, you must have taken our Intro to the Sewing Machine workshop, or have knowledge on how to properly thread a machine AND spool a bobbin. Experience sewing is a plus, but not required.
NO NEED TO BRING YOUR MACHINE! In all bee creative workshops, you'll use our Brother sewing machines to complete your wares.
WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS:
- 2-3 yards of COTTON OR FAUX LINEN, OR LINEN-BLEND fabric
- 1.5 - 2 YARDS FOR KNEE LENGTH; 3 YARDS FOR MAXI.
- YOUR FAVORITE T-SHIRT (to pattern on)
- DO NOT BRING ANY SLICK, STRETCHY OR SPECIALTY FABRICS FOR THIS BEGINNER WORKSHOP, AS LEARNING ON COTTON WILL ENSURE YOU COMPLETE IN THE COURSE TIME.
All other supplies will be provided in the cost of the workshop.
IMPORTANT NOTE: BECAUSE NO FUNDAMENTAL SEWING WILL BE TAUGHT IN THIS COURSE, WE WILL EXCUSE ANY STUDENTS WHO DO NOT KNOW HOW TO NAVIGATE AN ENTRY-LEVEL MACHINE DURING THE WORKSHOP. THESE STUDENTS WILL BE INVITED TO RETURN FOR A FUTURE WORKSHOP DATE ONCE THEY ARE ABLE TO RE-THREAD A MACHINE AND SPOOL A BOBBIN ON THEIR OWN. TO ENSURE THE QUALITY AND ENJOYMENT OF THE WORKSHOP FOR ALL, WE WILL ADHERE TO THIS RULE WITH NO EXCEPTIONS.
