Sewing 102: Machine + Hand Appliqued Pillows

We all love those pillows that you can run your hand over and feel the beautiful work that has gone into its creation.  Texture on the front of a pillow can be made with many different techniques, with one of the most fun and flexible being applique.  

Applique is when you take shapes of another material/color and affix them onto your fabric substrate to create a pattern or design.  In the workshop, you'll learn the process of applique, using your machine for the majority of the project (with just a little hand-sewing in the mix. 

We'll have a variety of precut items that you can applique that are all inspired by nature, from monstera leaves, to fall leaf bundles, to modern plants in pots that will make you smile.  Have a steady hand and want to cut your own?  We'll have plenty of felt on hand for you to cut the design of your choice before we get started sewing.

We'll go over the technique, do a little practice, and then jump right into creating our pillows. We'll first design our applique, sew it onto the pillow front, and then sew an envelope pillowcase that will stand out as a feature in your modern home. 

This class is is a great time, and will surely open the door to you creating using this technique in endless applications.  

MATERIALS NEEDED FOR CLASS: 

• All materials provided. Just bring yourself!
  
  
• No need to bring your machine!  All Brother sewing machines provided by us.
