We all love a great necklace. One that can be layered, and be dressed up, or dressed down, depending upon the occasion. If you like symmetry, or if you are a person who likes things a wee bit cattywampus (like we do), then this class is for both of you.
This is a beginner jewelry workshop that will force you to use your hands in ways that you may have not before. Assembling a necklace is simple, but takes several steps to do it successfully - and correctly - each time. You'll learn the in's and out's of jewelry fabrication, including:
- The proper pliers to use in fabrication
- How to properly use jump rings
- The physics in making sure you position your pieces together for the right positioning when wearing
- How to use wire and beads to fabricate a bead chain
- How to do the infamous "s" hook on which all jewelry is made
- How to fabricate a shape out of metal on which you can hook your bead chain.
By the end of this workshop, you'll have at least one beautifully made necklace to call your own. We'll use hypo-allergenic brass and semiprecious stones for you to create beautiful pieces that you'll want to wear each and every day.
