A big part of learning how to sew is perfecting the art of modifying clothing that you already have.  Have that old, worn out - but truly beloved tee - sitting in your closet that you just can't bear to get rid of? Give it brand new lovely life by upcycling it into a Kantha-style tunic!

A Kantha tunic is a A kantha tunic is a relaxed, lightweight top made from fabric that traditionally features South Asian hand-worked running stitches (known as "kantha"). The shape is flowy, lovely, and can be dressed up or down.  For our Kantha Tunic, we're using a loose-fitting t-shirt as our basis, and adding any kind of fabric you want (so long as it's flowy) to the sides. The result? A magnificently ethereal tunic that you can wear with shorts, pants or a skirt. 

PLEASE READ - WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS: 

• A t-shirt of your choosing with a relaxed fit
• Your success in any sewing project largely relies on choosing the appropriate fabric for your project: In addition to your t-shirt, you'll be a knit fabric, flowy knit/stretch blend fabric that has one-way stretch (not swimsuit material, please), or upcycled scarves or thrifted material.  For this project to drape properly, avoid stiff cottons. 
• All other materials are provided in the cost of the workshop. 

Each workshop is approximately 2-2.5 hours long.

MANDATORY PRE-REQUISITE:  
To join us for this workshop, you must have taken our Intro to the Sewing Machine workshop, or have knowledge on how to properly thread a machine AND spool a bobbin on your own.  Experience sewing accessories is a plus, but is not required.  

NO NEED TO BRING YOUR MACHINE!  In all bee creative workshops, you'll use our Brother sewing machines to complete your wares (we love our Brother RLS590 and XL2600i machines.... Great starter machines for all).

HALF-OFF WORKSHOP POLICY: Half-price workshops are final sale. No credits or transfers for missing a workshop, no exceptions. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another attendee for your original registered session date and workshop, only.
