Sewing 102: The Every Day Knit Pencil Skirt

Hey, you CAN sew.  Once you've made your first successful item on the sewing machine, you'll be ready to tackle it all.  

In this workshop, you'll learn to sew your own comfy Knit Pencil Skirt, which we call the "Everyday Skirt."  We call it the Everyday Skirt because we mean it.... this is that skirt that is so easy to wear, so comfortable against your skin, that you'll throw it on with both tennis shoes and heels, with tees and linen.... sky's the limit in styling this one.  

While simple sewing knowledge is helpful in this class, beginners (who have taken the Intro to the Sewing Machine workshop, or have prior sewing knowledge) and advanced sewers are welcome.  We'll begin by measuring and sizing your body so that you can create a skirt that fits you just right.  You'll learn how to sew properly on knit, which stitches to use, how to insert an elastic band, and how to finish your skirt with an easy hem.  Because this is not an Intro to the Sewing Machine class, each attendee must know how to spool a bobbin and properly thread a machine.  

WHAT TO BRING TO THE WORKSHOP:
All attendees must bring 2 yards of fabric for their skirt. A jersey (cotton) knit is preferable for this workshop (recommendation: use a flat jersey sheet to save on the cost of knit fabric).  NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE JERSEY KNIT WITH SWIMSUIT OR OTHER POLYESTER BLEND MATERIALS.  PLEASE ASK FOR ASSISTANCE WHEN PURCHASING YOUR FABRIC, IF NECESSARY. All other materials are provided in the cost of the workshop. 

NO NEED TO BRING YOUR MACHINE!  In all bee creative workshops, you'll use our Brother sewing machines to complete your wares (we love our Brother machines.... Great starter machines for all).
